
Vance T. Peterson
Vice President for University Advancement

As former President of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Dr. Vance T. Peterson brought an exceptional range of experience and expertise to his appointment as Vice President for University Advancement at California State University, Northridge in July 2007.
Dr. Peterson has extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of university advancement. He currently oversees the departments of alumni relations, community relations, development, public relations and strategic communications, special events, and governmental affairs.
In addition, Dr. Peterson directs the university’s current Imagine the Arts fundraising campaign to support the upcoming construction of a new regional performing arts center on campus. He also serves as president of the California State University, Northridge Foundation.
Prior to his appointment at Northridge, Dr. Peterson, a Southern California native, held senior advancement positions at UCLA, USC and Occidental College, and served as vice president for advancement at the Culinary Institute of America, the world’s premiere culinary college. He was also president of Sierra Nevada College.
His academic background includes a B.A. in English Literature from Occidental, an M.S. in administration from the George Washington University and a Ph.D. from Stanford University in higher education administration and policy analysis.
