Welcome to the Information Technology website.

IT for Faculty

The Academic Technology department provides a wide range of applications and services to support the teaching and learning mission in the classroom and online. These services include assisting faculty in redesigning courses for online and hybrid learning; working with faculty and staff to create accessible websites and learning materials; and designing and creating engaging physical and virtual learning environments. Among the applications supported by Academic Technology are the learning management systems (Moodle and WebCT), web conferencing (Elluminate), video production, video streaming, and smart classrooms.

Moodle to Replace WebCT

The university has selected Moodle as our primary learning management system. The Spring 2010 semester will be the final semester during which WebCT will be used at California State University, Northridge. After June 30, 2009 WebCT will no longer be available.

WebCT course content for Spring 2009, Summer 2009, Fall 2009, Winter 2010, and Spring 2010 will be automatically moved to Moodle.

*** If you need WebCT content from a course taught prior to Spring 2009, please contact the LMS team at ftc@csun.edu to make arrangements for migration of this content.***

Moodle training and support is available in several formats. We offer regularly scheduled face to face workshops for faculty. We also offer online training from Lynda.com for both faculty and students. Our Faculty Associates also offer weekly Moodle Office Hours in the Faculty Technology Lab (Oviatt 30) where faculty can drop in for support from a colleague.

Faculty who would like to request a Moodle course site for a summer course should contact the Faculty Technology Center at ftc@csun.edu. Please provide us with your course name and number, SOLAR class ticket number, your CSUN email address and user id.

For more information on these services please see the Moodle FAQs at http://www.csun.edu/at/tools/moodle.html or contact the Faculty Technology Center at ftc@csun.edu.
